Thinking in Circles
Why we overthink, and how to come back to the present.
December has a way of turning the volume up. Going home, slipping back into old family roles, the end-of-year reviews, the 3 a.m. replays of conversations and decisions. The mind starts going round in circles: looking back at what was, rushing ahead to what might be, rarely landing where we actually are.
This session is about why we overthink, what the mind is trying to do when it loops, and how to come back to the present, before and during the holidays.
In the session:
• The difference between thinking something through and going round in circles
• Why overthinking feels like it helps, and what it's really trying to protect
• Why the holidays make it louder: family, old roles, the end of the year
• Small, practical ways to step out of the loop and back into the present
• A short writing exercise to take with you into December
